The club is a group of communists, socialists, and people of all left-wing shades. It is dedicated to the struggle for equality and democracy and against capitalism.

We believe in equal rights. And we mean real legal and moral equality, not equality in speeches and promises matched with inobservance and betrayal. We fight for MLK's dream world where people are judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin, their gender, or their sexual orientation.

We believe in democracy. And we mean real democracy, not media-managed, money-bought representative democracy. We fight for a world where democracy is deepened to include workplace democracy, and in which moneyed interests are prevented from subverting the democratic process.

We believe in peace. And we mean real peace, not perpetual war waged in the name of peace. We fight for a world where bloodshed is a last resort, not a first preference enforced by the military-industrial complex and its financiers.

To achieve these things we believe it is necessary to struggle against the basic paradigm of capitalism. Under capitalism real equal rights, real democracy, and real peace cannot be achieved. This is because of the class structure produced by capitalism, where the super-rich and big corporations wield enormous power, despite their small numbers. Capitalism must therefore be overthrown and replaced.

The club invites all like-minded people to join or collaborate - commitment is to the degree desired by the individual, and membership is not a requirement. "Fellow travelers" are invited. If you are interested, see Mick's first post for the relevant contact email.

Youth and Socialism in the Bay Area; Northern California and Nevada; and nationwide on-line

This blog is indented to inform and act as a discussion space about the Young Communist League, USA club based in the Bay Area, which has members throughout Northern California and Nevada and is working to establish a web-based club for young members of the YCLUSA and Communist Party, USA who are too far from established clubs to be active in traditional ways. Please use the comment space below or email David Bester for more information and to become involved.
